"Q'mir is pronounced as you would slur the words "come here" (c'mere). We said it so much to our pet rabbit that it became her name, and eventually the name of this group. She ran away within days of us borrowing her name to pay homage with our music.
Q'mir was a duo of Olivia Quintana and Jay Schleidt. We had this small project going for about a year, maybe late 2005 to mid 2006. Olivia is a classically trained musician (mainly trumpet), and has studied composition, conducting, and music pedagogy. I've mostly done made-up-by-myself experimental sound explorations since I was young. This album was originally slated for release by Stentorian Tapes, but they ceased operation before they got to it. We recorded and constructed Side 1 of "Yust" using a wide variety of instruments and sound sources and recording methods and computer programs. Side 2 is Olivia on synthesizer, with Jay manipulating her sounds and adding some theramin and Commodore64. Just for fun. Enjoy." Tape loosely placed inside a crayon box crayon holder section.
